Customer Profile:

A 53 year old company and one of the most trusted and reputed name in manufacturers of milk and milk products like cream, Butter, Ice Cream, in South India. with multiple cold storages units, multiple machinery, a couple hundred of their own vehicles for logistics and distribution and with sales spread across states.


Business Requirement:

This 53 year old company with multiple cold storage units across plants and across multiple vehicles,wanted a central monitoring system for all their units where temperature, and therefor electricity costs, played an important role.


Architecture requirements:

  • Replace multiple A4 paper sheets controllers and data logger devices with a single and unified System.

  • They wanted to be able to monitor, in real time, the temperature of Pasteurization units, Lolly tanks, cold storage unit rooms ( positive and negative ), chillers/coolers, humidity, as well as doors open/close, across their Business Units, from a central location.

  • They wanted to be able to see every vehicle cold storage unit, each Business Unit, separately.

  • Send SMS alerts and email alerts to the relevant stakeholders in case of temperature threshold breach.

  • They required real time visualization of all doors open/close status as well as how many seconds a door was open.

  • They wanted to be able to track the temperature of a specific production lote, from production to storage and to final customer to assure temperature compliance and maximum product quality.

  • Generate various reports for parameters in analysis.

  • They wanted to be able to give this important data to their final customers to ensure transparency and visibility, boosting customer trust in the brand.

  • There was a need to monitor Diesel generators consumption from central dashboard.

  • They wanted to optimize the routes for their distribution system and get reports on their top performing routes as well as to have a leaderboard of their drivers to create a reward system to increase performance and loyalty.

  • Collect all system and sensor data from their transportation vehicles Track the vehicle location, stops, speed of the vehicle, driver behaviour, time and duration of a door open.

  • They wanted a unified system to empower them with the efficient operation of their storage devices, providing savings in operating costs and prevention of stock loss.

Solution Details

  • Replaced multiple A4 paper sheets controllers and data logger devices with our single and unified System platform.

  • IoT Research Labs platform was deployed with multiple sensors for negative and positive temperatures, humidity, doors open/close, fuel sensor, electrical output.

  • Our wireless devices were installed in the plant, in the vehicles and in the generators.

  • Customer staff receive email alerts and SMS alerts if data is out of threshold Data goes directly to the cloud to facilitate distant monitoring and supervision from a command centre.

  • The wireless IoT sensors were set up based on parameter values defined by customer.

  • As a Risk Mitigation option, data storage options like Flash Memory and SD memory provided with IoT Research Labs system ensured zero data loss in cases of network failures.

  • As a Risk Mitigation option, data storage options like Flash Memory and SD memory provided with IoT Research Labs system were also built to store data in case of communication loss when trucks move out or between coverage area
